Effective September 1, 2005, Senate Bill 316 made it mandatory for doctors, hospitals, birthing centers, midwives, and anyone providing prenatal care to pregnant women to provide them with a resource that includes information on Postpartum Depression, Shaken Baby Syndrome and childhood immunizations. The CAP Center has created the brochure, “Resources for Parents of Newborns,” to fulfill the requirements of SB 316 for healthcare providers and to educate parents of newborn babies. Along with information on Postpartum Depression, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and childhood immunizations, the CAP Center has also included information on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Co-Sleeping.
The brochures are available in both English and Spanish and are affordably priced at $.25 each. Since January of 2005, local healtcare providers have purchased over 40,000 of the "Resources for Parents of Newborns" brochures and are providing their patients with invaluable information regarding these important issues.
